You phoned me at 3:23 AM, told me the time
was a palindrome, asked if I wanted to go shopping
for secrets and sea breeze
- I hung up.
You hummed a song I’d never heard
as we wandered dream-streaked streets,
talked about how the rain tasted
“I just want to pick up everything
you leave behind and put it in my pockets.”
