‘Vampire Girls Summer’ by Matilda Cormier-Stumpf

Blues of Summer Sun
tainted
painted
burned

Eaten Away Night That Later Reflect My Days
Fresh-Faced
Faked

Irony

Trickles of Sun That Go Against My Religion
pasty
petrification
night-walker

Blinds Drawn, Huddled Bundle of Pale and Black
Cornered
Hissing
Incisors

A Quincunx with Me in The Centre
spotlight
sizzle
attack

A Dawn that Never Ends, That then Is Over
Sleeping
Waking
Ending.

Matilda’s poem was chosen by Jon Stone as one of his favourite individual responses to the August Challenges. It responds to Challenge 8 ‘U-Boat Poem’.
